16-1-150: DISCONTINUANCE OF SERVICE:
Any user desiring to discontinue service shall notify the Public Works Department in writing of such fact at least ten (10) days before the date when such service is to be discontinued. Upon giving such written notice, said user shall not be responsible for water bill incurred after the date specified in said notice. Any credit balance in favor of the user as a result of an advance payment of bills or a deposit made will be refunded promptly after receipt of notice of discontinuance of service, except that an amount to be set by the City Council by resolution shall be retained by the City as a fee for turning off water service. Water service shall be turned off as soon as is reasonably possible after the date upon which the user requested the discontinuance to take effect. (1994 Code)
