The building official and any building inspector shall obtain prior written approval from the community development director before engaging or aiding in the construction of any improvement or structure within the city. In the event a conflict of interest is determined to exist between the building official's or building inspector's personal interests and his or her duties as a city official, an outside independent inspector shall be employed to conduct the necessary inspections. It shall be unlawful for the building official or any building inspector to provide or participate in any private inspections regarding any property located within the city. (Ord. 168, 3-7-1995)
