Any number of "building inspectors" may be hired by the city to assist the building official in the performance of his or her duties. All building inspectors shall take the constitutional oath of office and be properly deputized before entering on their respective duties. Building inspector(s) shall be under the direct supervision of the building official, shall have the authority to perform those duties delegated to the building inspector(s) by the building official, and shall have such other powers and duties as designated by the city council.
