The following words or phrases shall have the following meanings unless the context otherwise clearly requires:
BURIAL LOT: One or more places for burial as determined by the city.
CEMETERY COMMITTEE: One or more city employees as designated by the city manager who have the responsibility of supervising all city cemetery activities.
FUNERAL: The ceremonies, rituals, processions, and memorial services held in connection with the burial, cremation, or memorial of a deceased person, including the assembly and dispersal of the mourners.
GRAVE: A space within a burial lot for which one right of burial may be sold.
MARKER: A headstone flush with the surface of the ground made of granite, marble, or metal substances.
MONUMENT: A tombstone or headstone of granite, marble, or metal substances which extends above the surface of the ground at least twelve inches (12") in height or higher, but not exceeding thirty-six inches (36") in height.
PERPETUAL CARE: The maintenance care that the city agrees to give to the cemetery generally, not including the repair or replacement of markers or monument structures, unless damage is caused by the city.
RIGHT OF BURIAL AND/OR BURIAL RIGHT: The right for the holder of a right of burial certificate, or heir, to be buried in the city cemetery. (Ord. 728, 11-21-2006; amd. Ord. 1627, 12-3-2024)
