Sec. 2-104. Chief Of Police:
   (a)   There is hereby established the office of chief of police. (1963 Code § 7.003; amd. Ord. 0-72-45)
   (b)   The chief of police shall be appointed by the president by and with the advice and consent of the board of trustees. Following the appointment of the chief of police as aforesaid, the chief of police shall report to the village manager as provided in section 2-66 of this chapter. In the event that any person appointed chief of police was at the time of such promotion a member of the department he shall retain his status and rank while serving as chief of police and shall revert to such status and rank when his term as chief of police has ended.
