(a) Pursuant to the recommendations of the electrical commission there are hereby adopted as safe and practical standards for the installation, alteration and use of electrical equipment in the village the following:
(1) The adopted National Electrical Code (NFPA 70), as published by the National Fire Protection Association and approved by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), shall govern the installation and use of all electrical equipment in the village except as otherwise provided in this chapter.
(2) All service entrances shall be rigid conduit. The director of building and zoning may authorize flexible cable if the use of rigid conduit could not be installed in a safe and practical manner.
(3) Under no conditions shall flexible metal conduit or nonmetallic sheathed cable be used for any type of installation.
(b) The rules and regulations regarding the installation, alterations and use of electrical equipment last adopted by the electrical supply company now supplying the village, and as last published and filed with the Illinois commerce commission, three (3) copies of said code and the last mentioned rules and regulations being now on file in the offices of the clerk and director of building and zoning for the public use, examination and inspection.
