1487.04 PERMIT REQUIRED.
No air conditioning unit, air handling equipment, or electrical power generators shall be installed unless a permit for such installation, pursuant to Section 1442.16 of the Village Codified Ordinances, has been secured as set forth in this Chapter 1487, with the exception of standard window air conditioning units in residential dwellings. Applications for such permits shall be made to the Building Commissioner by the owner or by his or her agent in accordance with the procedures set forth herein. The Building Commissioner may, where it is determined that proposed air conditioning, air handling equipment or electrical power generators comply with all of the criteria of this chapter, that no required parking space or similar site feature is being eliminated, and that the amount of open space will not be reduced below the minimum required standards for the use district, if applicable, issue a permit for the installation of such facilities without referral to the Planning and Zoning Commission; otherwise applications for energy generation facilities shall be referred to the Planning and Zoning Commission for final site plan approval.
No air conditioning, air handling equipment or electrical power generators installed in or adjacent to a residential or commercial building shall be permitted to emit objectionable sounds.
