254.20 PART-TIME EMPLOYEES.
   (a)   Notwithstanding any other provisions in these Codified Ordinances, any part-time worker hired after May 11, 2005 in any department of the Village shall receive no benefits and shall be paid only an hourly wage.
   (b)   Effective January 1, 2020 and every January 1 st thereafter a "service Department permanent part time or permanent skilled part time employee" who works for the Village in various capacities on a "year round" basis shall receive paid time off including: vacation as set forth in this section; forty annual sick leave hours; and all village paid holidays. By way of illustration, a "service department permanent parttime or permanent skilled part time employee who works twenty-eight hours per week year round after one year of continual employment shall receive six days of vacation, forty hours of sick leave, and thirteen paid holidays. No vacation or sick time is to be carried over from year to year.
   (c)   In order to be designated as a "service department permanent part-time or permanent skilled part time employee" eligible for benefits under this section, the employee must work fewer than forty hours per week and more than twenty-eight hours per week, but must be continuously employed by the Village on a part-time basis throughout the calendar year. An employee must work a full calendar year on a permanent part-time basis before becoming eligible for consideration as a potential "permanent part-time employee." Only the Mayor may designate an employee as "permanent part time employee."
