If, during any calendar year, due to an extraordinary job-related illness, an accident or other circumstance, a Village employee is unable to use his or her entire vacation time, he or she may be paid for his or her accumulated and unused vacation time as set forth in this section. Such payment may be made during the first four months of the next succeeding year and may be made only if the employee has obtained the prior written approval of the Mayor during the calendar year of entitlement for the vacation.
