10-3-9: CUTTING, THREADING AND JOINING:
   A.   General Requirements: All pipe shall be cut square with its length. Pipe shall be threaded with clean cut thread. The threads on both pipe and fitting shall be so cut that the joint can be made gastight without lead or compound; they may be leaded, however, as a lubricant or aid in making the joint cut. All burs or other obstructions shall be removed from the pipe. Where ceiling fixtures are hung from drops, the outlet fitting shall be securely and rigidly fastened. Piping shall not be laid to support any weight (except fixtures) or be subjected to any extra strain. Pipe with stripped, chipped, crooked or damaged threads shall not be used.
   B.   Jointing Compound: When an approved jointing compound is used, such compound should be applied sparingly and only to the male thread of the joint. Sealing wax or any material or compound known as "gas fitters cement" shall not be used. (Ord. 15.28; amd. 2006 Code)
