10-3-8: PIPING INSTALLATION STANDARDS:
   A.   General Requirements And Restrictions: No pipe smaller than standard three-eighths inch (3/8") size shall be used in any concealed gas piping installation; and no pipe smaller than standard one-half inch (1/2") size shall be used for concealed horizontal piping. All gas heating appliances shall be vented to the atmosphere with the size vent connection supplied by the manufacturer. When no chimney is available, it is permissible to vent with metal pipe; provided, however, that at least one-half inch (1/2") air space may be provided between the shield and the woodwork through which the pipe passes. In no case will a rubber hose connection be permitted in the connection of any appliance, either for heating, lighting or cooking.
   B.   Pipe Size:
      1.   All supply lines, branches, drops and other parts of any piping installations shall be made of pipe of a size suited to the length required and the number and character of the outlets to be supplied. It is important that the minimum size for any pipe shall be as indicated in the following tabulation.
      2.   If any outlet is larger than three-eighths inch (3/8"), it shall be counted as more than one outlet, according to the following table:
