Be it further enacted, that no person shall become councilmember who shall have been convicted of malfeasance in office, bribery, or other corrupt practice, or crime, or of violating Tennessee Code Annotated, Title 2, in reference to elections, and if any councilmember shall be so convicted he shall forfeit his office.
