§ 74.04 HORNS AND OTHER SIGNALING DEVICES.
   (A)   Horn required. Every motor vehicle, when operated upon any public way, shall be equipped with a horn in good working order and capable of emitting sound audible under normal conditions from a distance of not less than 200 feet, but no horn or other warning device shall emit an unreasonably loud or harsh sound or a whistle.
   (B)   Use of horns and signaling devices.
      (1)   The driver of a motor vehicle shall, when reasonably necessary to ensure safe operation, give audible warning with his or her horn, but shall not otherwise use the horn at any time.
      (2)   The sounding of any horn or signal device on any vehicle, except as a danger signal, or the creation by means of any signal device of any unreasonable loud or harsh sound or the sounding of any device for an unnecessary and unreasonable period of time is hereby prohibited.
   (C)   Unauthorized signaling devices. No vehicle shall be equipped with, nor shall any person use upon a vehicle any siren, whistle or bell; except that, this shall not apply to an authorized emergency vehicle as otherwise permitted in this title.
