4-1-23: DRUG ENFORCEMENT OFFICER:
   A.   Qualifications And Status: The DEA officer is a specialty assignment to a task force. The DEA officer shall be appointed and assigned by the chief of police and may be appointed/assigned from any sworn full time officers within the police department. No person not so maintaining sworn officer status within the police department may be appointed/assigned as a DEA officer. The DEA officer shall serve at the sole and exclusive discretion of the chief of police. The DEA officer shall be subject to disciplinary action by the chief of police. The removal from the appointment/assignment as DEA officer is not to be considered "disciplinary" in nature in and of itself.
   B.   Appointment And Eligibility: The chief of police shall have the sole and exclusive authority to appoint/assign the DEA officer.
   C.   Powers And Duties: The DEA officer shall have and perform the following powers and duties:
      1.   Duties and assignments as directed by the chief of police, maintaining primary responsibility for general investigations directed by thereto.
      2.   Perform any and all other duties assigned by the chief of police. (Ord. 04-08-0, 3-26-2004)
