4-1-12: TEMPORARY POLICEMEN:
   A.   Appointment And Qualifications: As provided by chapter 24, section 10-2.1-16 of the board of fire and police commissioners act, up to ten (10) temporary policemen may be appointed by the board of fire and police commissioners for a period of sixty (60) days in accordance with the statute. No single temporary policeman can be appointed more than twice during any calendar year.
Such temporary policemen shall meet the standards of the board of fire and police commissioners for original appointees, except that no written examination is required. (1970 Code §3-1-12.1)
   B.   Active Duty: Temporary policemen:
      1.   Shall serve on active duty when requested by the chief of police, through the board of fire and police commissioners, whenever there are vacancies in the department or in time of emergency, and shall receive such compensation as the city council shall prescribe. (1970 Code §3-1-12.2)
      2.   May be relieved of active duty by the board of fire and police commissioners, through the chief of police, in the event their services are not required. (1970 Code §3-1-12.3)
