3-1-4: INVESTIGATION:
Upon receipt of any application for a business license which, by city ordinance, necessitates an inspection or investigation before issuance of such license, the city clerk shall refer the application to the proper officer or agency for making such investigation. The officer or agency charged with the duty of making the investigation or inspection shall thereafter report the results of such investigation or inspection, favorable or otherwise, within ten (10) days after receipt of the application or a copy thereof. The city health officer shall make or cause to be made any investigation with regard to applications for licenses which would permit the care and handling of food or such investigation as would be required for the prevention of nuisances or the spread of disease for the protection of health; the building commissioner shall make or cause to be made any inspection relative to the construction of buildings or other structures. All other investigations and inspections, except where otherwise provided, shall be made by the chief of police or some other officer designated by the mayor. (1970 Code §8-0.12)
