§ 1486.02 MEANS OF EGRESS FOR UNITS ABOVE FIRST FLOOR.
   Every dwelling unit above the first floor of a two or three-family dwelling shall have two means of egress, located as far apart as possible. One means of egress shall be by enclosed stairs leading directly to a ground-floor porch, stoop or steps to grade. The second means of egress may be similar to and in addition to the above described stairway, or another stairway leading onto a porch or railed deck not more than nine feet above grade. The two exits shall be at least 20 feet apart as measured around the periphery of the dwelling structure. A required means of egress shall not be through any other dwelling unit.
