No person shall discharge any firearm or air gun of any type or description within the city, except by permission of the chief of police or the city council, granted for special occasions, except in proper position for firing salutes or by command of a proper military or police officer in the performance of official duty, or in a shooting range or gallery authorized by the governing body. Special occasions for which permission may be granted shall include, but not be limited to, parades, festivals, demonstrations, exhibits, mock gunfighter performances, wild west shows and rodeos.
