No transient merchant, itinerant merchant or itinerant vendor, or a solicitor or canvasser, or a huckster, hawker or peddler, as defined in Section 729.01, except when exempted, shall engage in such business within the City without first obtaining a license therefor in compliance with the provisions of this article.
