Those employees of the City who are members of Local 1562 Public Employees of Ross County, Ohio, Council 8, American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, AFL-CIO, may elect at time of retirement from active service and within eight or more years of service with the City to be paid in cash for fifty percent (50%) of his accrued unused sick leave. Such payment shall be based on the employees rate of pay at the time of retirement payment. Payment for sick leave on this basis shall be considered to eliminate all sick leave credit accrued by the employee at that time. Such payment shall be made only once to an employee. The AFSCME employee must be a member of the local union for a minimum of four years before he receives this benefit.
