(a) The position of Engineer is an appointed, non-classified position and is under the direct supervision of the Mayor and shall serve at the pleasure of the Mayor. This position shall be a full-time position.
(b) The City Engineer is in charge of the Department of Engineering and performs the planning, design, project and construction management, and inspection for City public work improvements. Consultation and assistance is provided to other City departments and the Planning Commission. The City Engineer has the responsibility for the design of traffic control signal, sign and street markings; and makes and maintains the city, zoning and infrastructure maps. The City Engineer keeps the department up to date on infrastructure, system and technology improvements; and performs other duties as assigned by the Mayor.

(c) The City Engineer shall furnish bond in the amount of twenty-five thousand dollars ($25,000).

(d) The salary for the City Engineer shall be an amount fixed by the Mayor and approved by Council. The Engineer shall be entitled to all fringe and non-economic benefits available by law to unclassified employees and shall receive pension pick-up.
