The Civil Service Commission is hereby authorized and directed to discontinue any adherence to maximum age limitations imposed upon applicants to civil service positions, including original appointment to the Police Department. However, no person shall be eligible to receive an original appointment to the Fire Department on and after the person’s forty-first birthday.
