375.03 EMERGENCIES.
   The provisions of this chapter shall not apply to the operation of snowmobiles for the purpose of emergency travel only, during the period of snow emergency as hereinafter defined, on any public thoroughfare; when and at locations where snow upon the public thoroughfare renders travel by automobile impracticable, when a snow emergency is declared by the Mayor or Chief of Police, after reasonable efforts to announce such snow emergency by use of the local press, radio and television stations. Such snow emergency is defined and may be declared when snowfall in the Municipality exceeds a depth of four inches during any twenty-four hour or less period.
