Except as provided in Title 8, Chapter 1, any person convicted of a violation of any section of this code which does not otherwise provide for a specific penalty shall be punished by the imposition of a fine not to exceed one thousand dollars ($1,000.00), or by a sentence of confinement in the city or county jail not to exceed six (6) months, or both such fine and imprisonment.
