6-3-6: RULES OF INTERMENT:
The sexton shall allow no interment without having first obtained the following:
   A.   A grave opener permit from the City Clerk authorizing interment. No interment shall be made in any other lot than the one named in the permit.
   B.   A burial permit from the Public Health Officer as required by law.
   C.   Verification that the space in which burial is to be made has been fully paid for.
   D.   Verification that such lot is not used beyond its capacity. No more than two (2) burials in one (1) thirty six inch by ninety six inch (36" x 96") grave space are allowed; provided that the second burial is a cremation urn unless the first burial was made at a depth that is sufficient enough to allow for a second burial. Natural burial blocks shall not have more than one burial in each grave space.
   E.   Verification that proper record is made of the name and age of the deceased person and of the exact location of the grave.
   F.   When an interment is to be made on a lot, the location of such interment shall be designated by the lot owner. Should the lot owner fail or neglect to make such designation, the City reserves the right to make the interment at a location agreed upon by the funeral director and the sexton.
   G.   Interments in non-natural burial blocks require the containment of remains within a suitable casket or urn and casket outer receptacles per section 6-3-9 of this chapter. (Ord. 2018-35)
