For the purpose of this subchapter, the following definitions shall apply unless the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning.
APPROACH. Means that section of the roadway right of way, between the pavement edge or edge of a paved berm and the property line, which is designed and used for the movement of traffic between the roadway pavement and the gasoline service station property.
APPROACH RADIUS. Means the edge of the approach delineated by the arc of a radius tangent to the approach edge and the through pavement.

TURNING RADIUS means the arc of an approach radius which approximates the turning path of a vehicle.

NONTURNING RADIUS means the arc of an approach radius which is less than the minimum turning path of a vehicle.
CHANNELIZED INTERSECTION. Means an "at-grade" intersection with islands for directing traffic into definite paths.
MEDIAN. Means the portion of a divided highway physically separating the traveled ways for traffic into definite paths.
PUBLIC ALLEY. Means any way or lane generally not less then eight feet or more than 20 feet wide, within any block of a municipality, which affords access to the side or rear of buildings in such block.
SIDEWALK. Means a permanent, hard-paved walkway, continuous for a reasonable distance and an integral part of the highway development, for use of pedestrians only.
STABILIZED MATERIAL. Means any aggregate such as gravel, stone or mixtures of such aggregates with soil, placed in such a manner as to provide a smooth, stable, all-weather surface, not subject to raveling.
