§ 34.33 DUTIES OF ENGINEER.
   It shall be the duty of the City Engineer to act as consultant for and to advise the various departments and officials of the city, when requested, on all matters relating to engineering services; to make plans and estimates, as requested by Council, for improvements and changes in city utilities; to prepare real estate descriptions, if any are requested by the various departments; to revise and keep up to date all city maps; to attend meetings of Council; to attend meetings of the Planning Commission, when requested by the Mayor; to attend Council committee meetings when requested; to assist the various department heads when his services are needed, and to meet with all properly constituted boards of the city when his services are needed and requested. The City Engineer shall supervise all works of public improvement during the progress of same; exact a strict compliance with the terms and specifications of any contract in progress of execution between the city and any contractor and, if necessary, compel a compliance with such terms and specifications; have the authority to cause work to be suspended and report the matter of dispute to Council or the proper board or officer for its or his action thereon; have charge of and perform all engineering work for the city and also have charge of all streets, alleys, and public thoroughfares, and have such duties as are, provided by the state statutes for city engineers.
