1. All animals impounded in the animal shelter shall be held for a period of 72 hours, excluding Saturdays, Sundays and city holidays, in order to give owners a chance to locate them.
2. Owners searching for lost pets must physically come to the animal control office between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, to identify their pet. Members will not identify an animal over the phone unless it has a city license on the collar, or some other form of identification.
3. Animal control staff will make every effort to contact an owner of an impounded animal with identification.
4. At the time of redemption, owners will need to provide animal control staff with:
a. A copy of the animal’s current rabies certification issued by a licensed veterinarian;
b. A copy of their city license certificate; and
c. A picture identification.
