§ 3-96 ISSUANCE OF RECORDS.
   1.   Upon obtaining a license for a dog or cat, a license tag shall be issued. The tag, of durable materials, shall be designed to be easily fastened or riveted to the animal’s collar or harness. The tag shall bear a number corresponding to the receipt issued by the Animal Control Officer.
   2.   When any tag has become lost during a registration period, the owner of the dog or cat may request a duplicate tag, for the remainder of the registration period, upon presentation of the registration certificate and a replacement fee of $1.
   3.   It shall be unlawful for any person to place on any dog or cat a tag issued for any other dog or cat or to make or use any false, forged or counterfeited tag or imitation thereof.
   4.   The city’s Animal Control Officer shall maintain records of licensed dogs and cats and such records shall be open to public inspection.
