(a) Compliance with this chapter is achieved by installation of the approved detector(s) pursuant to this chapter and by supplying the tenant with an annual fresh battery supply.
(b) The owner of the property shall not be held liable if the detector(s) fail in an emergency by reason of defect or tampering by the tenant or by failure of the tenant to install the battery or for any other reason beyond the control of the owner.
