(a) If the Building Commissioner determines that the volume of massage establishment license applications received during the first sixty days following the effective date of this chapter is too great to allow proper investigation and review within the time limit specified in this chapter, the Building Commissioner may delay a decision on any or all massage establishment license applications submitted during the initial sixty-day period for up to an additional 120 days beyond the thirty-five-day time period specified in this chapter. If the Building Commissioner makes such a determination, he or she shall promptly so notify the Police Chief, the Fire Chief and the Health Commissioner and shall extend the time limits specified for the requested investigation and inspections accordingly.
(b) If the Safety Director determines that the volume of massage therapist license applications received during the first sixty days following the effective date of this chapter is too great to allow proper investigation and review within the time limit specified in this chapter, the Safety Director may delay a decision on any or all massage therapist license applications submitted during the initial sixty-day period for up to an additional 120 days beyond the thirty-five day time period specified in this chapter. If the Safety Director makes such a determination, he or she shall promptly so notify the Police Chief, the Fire Chief and the Health Commissioner, and shall extend the time limits specified for the requested investigation and inspections accordingly.
