725.01 DEFINITIONS.
   Unless otherwise stated, when used in this chapter the following terms shall have the meanings respectively ascribed to them:
   (a)   "Street" means any public street, alley or public way within the corporate limits of the City.
   (b)   "Taxicab company" means and includes every corporation, company, association, joint stock association, person, firm or copartnership, their lessees, trustees or receivers, or trustees appointed by any court whatsoever, owning, controlling, operating or managing taxicabs.
   (c)   "Taxicab" means all motor-driven vehicles engaged in the business or carrying passengers for hire on the streets of the City, except motor busses operated on regular schedules and over regular established routes.
   (d)   "Taxicab stands" means such portions of the street as are reserved for taxicab use as hereinafter provided.
   (e)   "Taximeter" means a mechanical instrument by which the charge for hire of a taxicab is calculated.
   (f)   "Certificate" means a certificate of convenience and necessity.
