503.01 DEFINITIONS.
   As used in this chapter:
   (a)   "Physician" means a person licensed to practice medicine and surgery or osteopathic medicine and surgery pursuant to Ohio R.C. 4731.14 or 4731.29.
   (b)   "Counselor" means an individual trained in abortion counseling.
   (c)   "Abortion" means the purposeful termination of human pregnancy by any person, including the pregnant woman, with an intention other than to produce a live birth, or to remove a dead fetus or embryo.
   (d)   "Hospital" means a general hospital, or a special hospital devoted to gynecology and obstetrics, which is accredited as a hospital by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Hospitals of the American College of Physicians, the American College of Surgeons, the American Hospital Association and the American Medical Association, or which is accredited as a hospital by the Accreditation Committee of the Office of Hospital Affairs of the American Osteopathic Association.
   (e)   "Abortion service" mans a place or facility in which abortions are performed other than a maternity unit licensed or regulated by the Ohio Department of Health.
   (f)   "Total transport time" means the total elapsed time between the diagnosis at an abortion service of a complication requiring emergency care and the delivery of the patient and the transfer of responsibility for the patient's care to appropriate medical personnel at a hospital.
   (g)   "Registered nurse" means a person who is registered as a registered nurse by the State of Ohio pursuant to Ohio R.C. Chapter 4723.
