153.022 SICK LEAVE DONATION.
   (a)   A full-time employee of the City who is not a member of a bargaining unit represented by a union or employee organization may elect to donate paid leave to a fellow employee who is not a member of a bargaining unit represented by a union or employee organization and who is otherwise eligible to accrue and use sick leave. The intent of the leave donation program is to allow employees to voluntarily provide assistance to their co-employees who are in critical need of leave due to a serious illness or injury of the employee or a member of his or her immediate family. An employee may not donate paid leave if it will result in the employee having less than 40 hours of accrued leave. An employee is not entitled to receive donated paid leave until he or she first exhausts all of his or her accumulated leave time. Employees may not actively solicit donations for paid leave.
   (b)   Unused donated sick time shall be returned to the donating employee.
