(a) Establishment. There is hereby established the positions of part-time Jailers.
(b) Duties. Under the management and control of the Safety Director and the organization and supervision of the Chief of Police, the part-time Jailers shall perform the following duties:
(1) Maintain security of institution and property;
(2) Supervise inmates;
(3) Assist officers with jailing procedures;
(4) Perform duties assigned by shift supervisor;
(5) Any other duties prescribed by the Director of Safety.
(c) Required Experience and Training.
(1) Knowledge of Jail Standards as dictated by the State of Ohio;
(2) Ability to deal effectively with a variety of problems and personalities in inmates;
(3) One course in supervision or equivalent;
(4) High School education.
(d) Compensation. The salary of the part-time Jailers shall be fixed by Council.
(e) Appointment. The Jailers shall be appointed by the Mayor and serve at the pleasure of the Mayor.
