133.08 ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT TO THE LAW DIRECTOR.
   (a)   Establishment. Effective January 1, 1985, there is hereby established the position of Administrative Assistant to the Law Director.
   (b)   Appointment. The Administrative Assistant to the Law Director shall be appointed by the Mayor and shall serve at the pleasure of the Mayor under the direction of the Law Director.
   (c)   Duties. The Administrative Assistant to the Law Director shall perform such duties as the Law Director or Mayor shall assign and prescribe for the office, including, but not limited to:
      (1)   Typing ordinances and resolutions to proper form, upon written request for same;
      (2)   Maintaining court schedules and keeping a calendar of all commitments of the Law Director and his staff;
      (3)   Maintaining a log of all departmental activities, culminating in a year-end report;
      (4)   Answering departmental correspondence;
      (5)   Preparing to form all documents to be submitted to court;
      (6)   Maintaining and updating the library of the Law Department so that it is current;
      (7)   Maintaining the records and files of the department in an orderly fashion;
      (8)   Researching questions of law;
      (9)   Preparing legal documents requested by the Mayor.
   (d)   Qualifications. The Administrative Assistant to the Law Director shall have five years experience in the field of law prior to assuming this position. Experience satisfying this requirement would include: having served as the Secretary to the Law Director; having been a legal Secretary in a private law firm, a corporation or the government; having a paralegal degree and position; or any other such job as might evidence a thorough knowledge and ability in municipal law, civil and criminal cases and the like. Also, a knowledge of typing/word processing equipment and skill in using same shall be essential.
   (e)   Compensation. Compensation for the Administrative Assistant to the Law Director shall be fixed by Council.
