An Economic Development Committee which shall possess all of the powers and be subject to all of the responsibilities imposed upon it by law, the ordinances of the City, and the directions of Council, is hereby authorized and established. Among the specific powers and duties of the Economic Development Committee shall be the planning of the economic development of the City, the progressive pursuit of establishing new businesses in the City with the intent of creating jobs and employment opportunities and the recommendation of appropriate development incentives to insure projects that come to the City are economically viable. The Economic Development Committee shall consist of seven members as follows: the Mayor, the Law Director, one member of Council, appointed by Council, Finance Director, Economic Development Director, one citizen from the business community, appointed by the Mayor (and approved by Council), and the Building Commissioner.
