(a) Employees of the City, not covered by a bargaining unit, who become pregnant, and who indicate on their application for such leave their intent to return to work at a future date, shall be granted maternity leave for up to six (6) months.
(b) Application for maternity leave shall be in writing, and shall contain a statement of the expected date of birth, the date on which the leave of absence is to commence, and the intended date of return to service. Such written application shall be submitted to the Mayor at least sixty (60) days in advance of the beginning date of the leave.
(c) Employees shall be entitled to the use of vacation and sick leave pay during the maternity leave. The use of such leave with pay shall be requested on the application for leave. Upon exhaustion of all available and earned vacation and sick leave, maternity leave will revert to leave without pay status.
