No person parking a vehicle, except as otherwise provided by this article, shall permit such vehicle to remain parked in any parking meter space during any time when the parking meter adjacent to such space indicates that no portion remains of the period of time for which coins had been deposited; or beyond the time limited for parking in such space by virtue of the provisions of this article or other provisions of this code.
