(a) All of the employees listed in Section 153.04(b), plus the Police Chief, Desk Sergeant, Parking Meter Person, Street Commissioner, Water and Sewer Commissioner, Water and Sewer Clerk and Dog Warden, shall be entitled to sick leave of one day with pay for each completed month of service. Employees may use sick leave, upon approval of their department head for absence due to personal illness, pregnancy, injury, exposure to contagious disease which could be communicated to other employees, and for illness, injury or death in the employee’s family. Unused sick leave shall be cumulative up to a maximum of 120 days, When sick leave is used, it shall be deducted from the employee’s credit on the basis of one hour for every one hour of absence from previously scheduled work and one hour shall equal one-eighth of a day.
(b) Upon termination of employment, the employee is entitled to be paid for thirty days of accumulated sick leave or one-fourth of such accumulated days, whichever is less.

(c) An employee shall be allowed to donate accumulated sick leave to another employee, only with the advance approval of Council. However, no employee shall be permitted to donate more than five days of sick leave in any calendar year.
