SECTION 15.1 CHIEF OF POLICE.
   The Chief of Police shall be appointed by the Mayor with the approval of Council. The Chief of Police shall be a person of proven administrative ability with experience and training in law enforcement. Subject to the direction and supervision of the Mayor, the Chief of Police shall be responsible for the supervision and administration of the Police Department and shall require of all police officers the proper discharge of their duties. He or she shall see to the protection of property and the preservation of peace, order and public safety throughout the Village and shall cause all violators of Village ordinances and of general law to be apprehended and brought to trial before the Municipal Court or other proper tribunal. Under the direction and supervision of the Mayor, the Chief of Police shall also perform such other duties as may be required of him or her by this Charter, ordinance or general law.
