347.01 MAXIMUM WEIGHT OF VEHICLES OPERATED ON MUNICIPAL STREETS.
   No person shall drive or operate over any street, avenue, road, alley, boulevard or bridge within the Municipality, any truck, the weight of which exceeds 20,000 pounds; provided, that nothing herein contained shall be construed as preventing the operation of trucks in excess of the foregoing weight upon such streets, avenues or bridges as may constitute portions or sections of designated State or Federal routes or highways; provided, further, that trucks in excess of the foregoing weight may be operated on such streets, avenues and bridges as constitute a direct route between the truck’s destination and the nearest point of access to a State or Federal route, and upon streets and avenues constituting the most direct route between intracity points of pick-up and delivery, and in the latter instance, in the event alternate routes are available, one of which includes a State or Federal route or highway, then the operation of such motor vehicle shall be upon the one including such State or Federal route.
