§ 10.36 FEEDING OF DEER AND GEESE PROHIBITED.
   No person shall intentionally feed deer or geese within the City of Austin.
   Subd. 1.   Feeding defined. For purposes of this subdivision, feeding shall include the act of placing or permitting to be placed on the ground, or within six feet of the ground, any grain, fodder, salt licks, fruit, vegetables, nuts, hay or any other edible materials, which may reasonably be expected to result in deer or geese feeding, unless such items are screened or otherwise protected from deer or geese consumption. Living food sources, such as fruit trees and other vegetation shall not be included in this definition.
   Subd. 2.   Wildlife feeding. Wildlife feeding is allowed if:
      A.   The feed is placed in such a manner as to exclude access to deer or geese; or
      B.   The feed is placed at least six feet above the ground.
   Subd. 3.   Exceptions. This prohibition shall not apply to: veterinarians, Austin community service officers, or any other city, county, state, or Federal game officials acting in the course of their official duties.
   Subd. 4.   Penalty. A violation of this section shall be a petty misdemeanor. See § 1.99, Subd. 2.
