339.02 OVERSIZE OR OVERWEIGHT VEHICLES ON LOCAL STREETS.
   (a)    No person shall operate or move upon any street in the Municipality other than a State route or through truck and bus route, a vehicle or combination of vehicles exceeding the size or the gross weight specified in Section 339.03 herein, except where the operator has in his possession a permit authorizing the operation or movement of such oversize or overweight vehicle issued by the Police Chief in accordance with subsection (b) hereof. The City Service Director shall co-sign all permits for operation or movement of oversize or overweight vehicles.

   (b)    The Police Chief may issue a permit for a limited period of time and with such restrictions as the Chief deems necessary authorizing the operation or movement of oversize or overweight vehicles where the applicant has shown that the operation or movement of such vehicles with such restrictions will not unreasonably affect the safety of the road or damage the roadway or road structures. The Chief may require the posting of bond or other security necessary to compensate the Municipality for any damage to the roadway or road structures. The Chief shall charge twenty dollars ($20.00) for each permit and ten dollars ($10.00) for each hour or any part thereof spent by each police officer supervising the movement of such vehicle.
