§ 1856.08 ORDER TO ABATE; NOTICE; NONCOMPLIANCE; REMEDY OF TOWNSHIP.
Whenever the Board of Township Commissioners has determined that a building is so infested with rodents as to constitute a public nuisance, as provided in § 1856.07, the Board of Township Commissioners has the authority to order the same abated by directing that the building be vacated and closed until it has been made rodent-proof, and the Board of Township Commissioners may cause to be posted at each entrance to such building a notice with the following words therein: “This building is unsafe and its use for occupancy has been prohibited by the Board of Township Commissioners of Aston Township.” Such notice shall remain posted until the nuisance has been abated. No person shall remove such notice without written permission of the Board of Township Commissioners or enter the building except for the purpose of rodent-proofing the same or demolishing the building. The Board of Township Commissioners also has the authority to order the abatement of such nuisance by directing the owner to cause the same to be made rodent-proof, and may provide that if the owner fails to comply with such order, the Board of Health may cause the same to be made rodent-proof and the cost thereof shall be a lien against the real property upon which such building was or is situated. Such cost shall be placed upon the township’s tax books against such property and may be collected, and the lien may be foreclosed, in the same manner as taxes and tax liens are collected and foreclosed, or by suit, as the township may determine.
