§ 73.02 DEFINITIONS.
   For the purpose of this chapter, the following definitions shall apply unless the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning. Any terms not otherwise defined in this chapter shall have the meaning as set forth in the State Vehicle Code, ILCS Ch. 625, Act 5, §§ 1-100 et seq.
   GOLF CART. A gas or electric-powered vehicle specifically designed and intended for the purposes of transporting one or more persons and their golf clubs or maintenance equipment while engaged in the playing of golf, supervising the play of golf, or maintaining the condition of the grounds on a public or private golf course.
   OCCUPANCY REQUIREMENTS. One person per bucket seat, three people per bench seat, not to exceed four occupant maximum per golf cart/UTV, with all persons seated while golf cart/UTV is in motion.
   REQUIRED EQUIPMENT. Golf cart/UTV equipment as defined in § 73.06 below.
   UTILITY TASK VEHICLE (UTV). Any motorized off-highway device designed to travel primarily off-highway, 64 inches or less in width, having a manufacturer’s dry weight of 2,000 pounds or less, traveling on four or more non-highway tires, designed with a non-straddle seat and a steering wheel for steering control.
   VILLAGE ROADWAYS. The portion of a village road, street, alley or right-of-way improved, designed or ordinarily used for vehicular travel or parking located within the village, with a speed limit of 30 mph or less. The term VILLAGE ROADWAY does not include national or state highways or any portion of State Route 48, any village sidewalk or village parks (other than parking lots).
