§ 71.04 STOPPING, STANDING OR PARKING PROHIBITED IN SPECIFIED PLACES.
   (A)   Except when necessary to avoid conflict with other traffic, or in compliance with law or the directions of a police officer or official traffic-control devices, no person shall:
      (1)   Stop, stand or park a vehicle:
         (a)   On the roadway side of any vehicle stopped or parked at the edge or curb of a street;
         (b)   On a sidewalk;
         (c)   Within an intersection;
         (d)   On a crosswalk;
         (e)   Between a safety zone and the adjacent curb or within 20 feet of points on the curb immediately opposite the ends of a safety zone, unless a different length is indicated by signs or markings;
         (f)   Alongside or opposite any street excavation or obstruction when stopping, standing or parking would obstruct traffic;
         (g)   Upon any bridge or other elevated structure upon a highway or within a highway tunnel;
         (h)   On any railroad tracks;
         (i)   At any place where official signs prohibit stopping;
         (j)   On any controlled-access highway;
         (k)   In the area between roadways of a divided highway, including crossovers; or
         (l)   In any alley that is open and maintained.
      (2)   Stand or park a vehicle (whether occupied or not, except momentarily to pick up or discharge passengers) and where to do so would reduce the usable roadway to less than 18 feet:
         (a)   In front of a public or private driveway;
         (b)   Within 15 feet of a fire hydrant;
         (c)   Within 20 feet of a crosswalk at an intersection;
         (d)   Within 30 feet upon the approach to any flashing signal, stop sign, yield sign or traffic-control signal located at the side of the roadway;
         (e)   Within 20 feet of the driveway entrance to any fire station and on the side of a street opposite the entrance to any fire station within 75 feet of the entrance (when properly sign-posted); or
         (f)   At any place where official signs prohibit standing or parking.
      (3)   Parking a vehicle (whether occupied or not, except temporarily for the purpose of and while actually engaged in loading or unloading property or passengers):
         (a)   Within 50 feet of the nearest rail of a railroad crossing;
         (b)   At any place where official signs prohibit parking; or
         (c)   In yellow zones.
   (B)   No person shall move a vehicle not lawfully under his or her control into any such prohibited area or away from a curb such distance as is unlawful.
   (C)   Chapter 74, Sch. I and Sch. II shall list all applicable no-parking zones.
   (D)   Truck and oversized vehicle parking prohibitions.
      (1)   No person shall park any motor vehicle which has a width greater than seven feet, a height greater than eight feet, or a length greater than 20 feet or any Second Division vehicle licensed for an F classification or higher, as defined by § 3-815 of the State Motor Vehicle Code (ILCS Ch. 625, Act 5, § 3-815):
         (a)   Upon any residential street, alley or public way except for the purpose and time period reasonably necessary to load and unload the same; notwithstanding, the parking of the vehicle shall be prohibited after the hour of 10:00 p.m. or before the hour of 6:00 a.m. on any day.
         (b)   Upon public or private property within the village with the motor running for a continuous period in excess of 30 minutes.
      (2)   The parking of detached trailers or detached semi-trailers is prohibited on streets, alleys and public ways at any time.
   (E)   No persons shall stand or park a vehicle in a roadway in any other manner than parallel with the edge of the roadway, headed in the direction of traffic, and with the curbside wheels of the vehicle within 12 inches of the edge of the regularly established grass or curb line delineating the side of the road, except that upon those streets which have been marked or signed for angle parking, vehicles shall be parked at the angle to the curb indicated by those marks or signs. Where parking spaces are delineated by painted lines on the pavement, it shall be unlawful to stand or park a vehicle other than entirely within the parking space so delineated.
