§ 130.03  FIREARMS AND DANGEROUS KNIVES.
   (A)   Authority. This section is made by the town pursuant to the authority granted it by I.C. 36-1-6-2, 36-1-6-4, 36-5-2-2-9, 36-5-4-11, 36-8-2-4 and 36-8-2-10.

   (B)   Firearms.
      (1)   Definition of “firearm”. The term FIREARM means any weapon which is capable of or designed to or which may readily be converted to expel a projectile with deadly force by means of an explosion.

      (2)   Shooting of firearms prohibited. No person shall fire or discharge, or cause to be fired or discharged, within the boundaries of the town any firearm.

      (3)   Exceptions. This section, as it pertains to firearms, shall not apply to peace officers or soldiers in the discharge of their official duties and while in the exercise of reasonable care; nor to a person using firearms in necessary self-defense.

   (C)   Dangerous knives.
      (1)   Definition of “dangerous knife”.DANGEROUS KNIFE means any knife having a blade more than three and one-half inches in length, any dagger, sword, bayonet, bolo knife, hatchet, straight-edge razor or razor blade not in a package, dispenser or shaving appliance.

      (2)   Possession and sale of dangerous knives. It is unlawful for anyone to knowingly carry concealed on his or her person or in any vehicle any dangerous knife, or to sell or give away to any person under 18 years of age a dangerous knife, or for any person under 18 years of age to purchase or possess a dangerous knife.

      (3)   Exemptions. Division (C)(2) above shall not apply to:
         (a)   Individual licensed hunters or fishermen while on hunting, camping or fishing trips;
         (b)   Any person over 18 years of age carrying such knife in a secure wrapper from or to the place of purchase, to or from a place of repair or to his or her home or place of business;
         (c)   Any person while in his or her place of abode or fixed place of business.
