§ 12-3-302. Failure to appear.
   A person who gives a written notice of intent to stand trial on a charge of a violation of any of the provisions of this title may not willfully fail to appear in court. A person who violates any provision of this section is guilty of a misdemeanor, regardless of the disposition of the charge originally made against the person. This section may be complied with by an appearance by counsel.
