(a) The subgrade shall be compacted to two feet behind the proposed back of curb, in conformance with the State of Ohio Department of Transportation Specification 203, Roadway Excavation and Embankment.
(b) A four-inch thick compacted aggregate subbase shall be constructed over the compacted subgrade. The compacted aggregate subbase shall conform to State of Ohio Department of Transportation Specification 304, with the total allowable percent of material passing a No. 200 sieve not exceeding five percent (5%). No slag will be permitted as aggregate subbase.
(c) The concrete pavement shall be a uniform thickness of eight inches, shall be twenty- eight feet wide from back of curb to back of curb, and shall comply with State of Ohio Department of Transportation Specification 452, Plain Portland Cement Concrete Pavement. The concrete curb shall be mountable and shall conform to Ohio Department of Transportation Type 3-A. All concrete shall have from six percent (6%) to eight percent (8%) air entrainment.
(d) A four-inch PVC curb drain shall be constructed behind the curb for the purpose of draining the pavement subbase. The curb drain shall be perforated PVC meeting the specifications of ASTM D-3034 and the aggregate in the trench shall be No. 57 stone.
(e) The transverse contraction joints for the concrete pavement shall be a sawed joint, one-quarter inch wide and two inches deep and shall be spaced not more than fifteen feet on centers. All joint sealing material shall conform to the State of Ohio Department of Transportation Specification 705.04, Hot Applied Crack and Joint Sealer.
(f) The expansion joints for the concrete pavement shall be placed at intersections, points of curve, points of tangent, cul-de-sacs, and at lengths no greater than 500 feet. Expansion joints shall have three-quarter inch diameter by fifteen inch long sleeved, round, smooth dowel bars oiled and spaced fifteen inches on centers and a one-inch joint. Expansion joints shall be filled with nonextruding expansion material to within three-quarters of an inch to the concrete surface and the remaining crack shall be filled to the surface with preformed elastomeric compression joint seal meeting the requirements of the Ohio Department of Transportation Specifications Item No. 705.11.
(g) The longitudinal center joint shall be a sawed joint one-quarter inch wide and two inches deep, and shall have number six rebar, thirty inches long, thirty-six inches on center along its entire length. The joint shall be sealed to 1/8-inch of the surface with joint material conforming to the State of Ohio Department of Transportation Specification 705.04.
(h) Concrete pavement longer than 100 feet shall be constructed using slip from paving equipment.
